Saratoga Springs recently made USA Today’s 10 best summer travel destinations across the US list for 2025, coming in at No. 4. The list was compiled based on reader votes after an expert panel nominated their top picks. Other winning destinations included Cody, Wyoming; Catalina Island, California; Block Island, Rhode Island; and Mackinac Island, Michigan, which was crowned No. 1.
“Offering a rich blend of cultural events, outdoor activities, and historic charm, Saratoga Springs, New York, is a vibrant summer destination,“ wrote USA Today of the charming Upstate NY city.
The outlet continued to highlight some of Saratoga Springs’ most popular attractions like the renowned Saratoga Race Course, where visitors can experience the thrill of thoroughbred horse racing during race season, which runs through mid-July to Labor Day.
The course offers free general admission as well as reserved seating options in the grandstand or clubhouse for those wanting a closer view. Additionally, every Sunday during race season, the Saratoga Race Course hosts Family Sundays, featuring a dedicated family zone near Gate A filled with free, family-friendly games, activities, and attractions.
The Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) also got a shout-out by the outlet for its stacked event lineup. This summer, visitors can catch concerts from big-name acts like Phish or the Goo Goo Dolls. They can also sign up for enriching workshops, such as adult ballet or a children’s music program led by The Philadelphia Orchestra.
For the outdoorsy type, Saratoga Lake and the Sacandaga River offer no shortage of water activities like boating, whitewater rafting, and kayaking. For something unique, large groups can book a Tiki Tour on Saratoga Lake.
Although not mentioned, first-time visitors may want to check out Saratoga Springs National Historical Park for a history lesson on the Battles of Saratoga, or Saratoga Spa State Park to bask in the famous mineral springs like the Geyser Spring.
Saratoga Springs has been recognized multiple times by USA Today’s 10 best lists over the years. Earlier this year, it made the outlet’s lists for 10 best small college towns and 10 best small town art scenes.
